Burg Children’s Dentistry Reviews – Orchard Drive Office
I have two children, a girl and a boy, ages 8 and 5. I’ve taken them to numerous doctor and dentist visits over the years but I’ve never heard them talk about the office and appointment afterward like they did after we visited Burg Children’s Dentistry in Bountiful! My son told me, “Mom, that was fun! When can we go back?” It was more like a fun experience/spoiling session for them than a dentist appointment.
The first thing I noticed when I entered the office were the brightly painted walls. Everything is fun and bright and made with children in mind.
First off, my kids noticed their names written on this fun New Patient board. I think it made them feel special to see their name written up there and they had fun finding their names.
After we checked in at the office the kids were both given a superhero cape! WOW! This is actually a really cool, nicely made cape. I was impressed. My son was absolutely thrilled as he is really into superheros of all kinds lately (he even slept in his cape last night).
Here they are pretending to fly with their new, cool capes!
Next it was time to get the checkups. But before we went to get teeth cleaned, each child chose a funny hat or costume to wear. I loved how the dental hygienist, Jen, was very patient with my kids as they couldn’t decide which hat/costume to wear and, of course, had to look through the entire box several times.
Keeping up the silliness, the kids were asked to skip, run or gallop down the hall to the check up room. They giggled and certainly enjoyed the fun-ness of the office that they usually don’t experience with other appointments.
X-rays are always a little big hard, especially for Skyler. He hates holding the little bite wings in his mouth. Somehow Jen was able to coax him into doing it. Of course she gave him tons of praise which helped him to stay motivated.
Once inside the check-up room, we saw the really cool ceiling mounted televisions! This is a really good way to get your kids (especially toddler age) to lay down and stay still!
Skyler was a bit nervous for the check-up so Reagan went first. Skyler looked on watching to see what to expect.
Reagan was a rock star! Once it came to Skyler’s turn he was still a bit nervous. Jen, again, showed patience and was very silly and positive to coax Skyler into getting his check-up done. He chose cotton candy flavor and actually really liked it. He realized after he was done that he had nothing to be scared of in the first place.
Next it was time for the dentist, Dr. Knudson, to do an exam. By this time the kids were totally relaxed and weren’t fearful at all. By starting the appointment off in a fun and relaxing way it sets the dentist up for success!
After the appointments, Skyler and Reagan each got to choose a toy! Of course they were super excited and had fun looking through the basket of toys. They were also able to choose their very own toothbrushes and toothpaste along with flossers. AND since they didn’t have any cavities they were able to be part of the No Cavity Club and get a balloon and have their pictures taken!! Awesome!
All in all, I was very impressed with the staff and the care that they took of my children. It is helpful to have a staff that actually enjoys working with children and can relate to them. I will definitely be visiting Burg Children’s Dentistry in the future. However, I’m not sure if Skyler will be able to wait 6 whole months!
